I've always kind of dabbled in and out of art, but the first time I remember getting really into art was back when I was in the fourth grade. Coca Cola had partnered with Disney to release a variety of character cans that I spent HOURS trying to learn drawing them on my own.
(GAH, that first image was bigger than I thought it'd be.)
8. What is your favorite piece that you have done?
OOOOH! This is always changing for me. Currently my favorite piece is a highly detailed sketch of Jared (Tie Guy) that I will be posting with my upcoming Big Bang in a few weeks. Sadly I can't share that one just yet.

15.What do you like drawing the least?
I used to say noses, but I think I am finally getting the hang of them, so I will have to go with hands and feet-- especially at odd angles. Also any and all backgrounds...

Date: 2015-07-08 08:17 pm (UTC)To be honest, no. There are definitely art pieces or styles that I don't find particularly aesthetically pleasing, but that doesn't make it bad. There are pieces by artists I love that I find unappealing, and there are simple and poorly done drawings by random people that fill me with delight! Neither is "bad."
Art is something that is entirely and intrinsically subjective, so everyone will take away something completely unique to their own individual preferences, including a sense of beauty. The squiggliest line can be embraced and completely change a viewer's outlook of the whole; a crudely put together manip can stimulate emotions beyond its composition.

Date: 2015-07-08 08:30 pm (UTC)Off the top of my head, I can only think of certain sexual kink imagery: knotting, abuse, underage sex. Though, I am drawing some teenage (17-18) nudity for BB... Basically I won't do anything that makes me feel uncomfortable.
In challenges, I've said I wouldn't draw Cas, but I have in fact drawn him multiple times, so, yeah...

Date: 2015-07-08 09:05 pm (UTC)I use it for various reasons, but mostly as stress management and to escape reality for a while. I tend to get lost when I draw, I can zone out for hours and even forget to eat. Kinda bad, but sometimes I just need to just drown out everything else around me.
Kinda the same reason I avoid trying to do it professionally... I would lose that if I did.

So many! I mentioned earlier that I redrew comic art and Disney cans etc. and while that helped me learn to draw, it also cemented this idea in my head that I ALWAYS need a photo or reference to look at. I am terrified to not use one!
I wouldn't call it shameful, especially considering many fan artists (some very high profile ones even, tho they tend to avoid calling it that-- but seriously, you don't get that spot on with every proportion/realism/accuracy from eyeballing or even grid method...) and even world famous artists/masters do it, and I don't understand where the stigma against it comes from, but I use tracing as a tool when I need to.
If I'm struggling with some anatomy or a particular facial feature, I will use it... And I don't feel the need to tell everyone when and where I use it. To me, that is like demanding which thesaurus or source a fanfic writer used for a particular word. The one thing I will say is, if you trace from another artist, credit them and if at all possible ask permission first! That's just proper etiquette.
