I might actually start a chibi commission today; and last night I was tinkering with Sai-- baby steps to figuring out Manga Studio. It's sooo not my usual style, and honestly I haven't played around with Sai very much to know how to color--really the only thing I use it for is inking, but...

29. who you love. I'm not in a relationship right now and haven't been in one for a while now, so I'd have to say my family (dad, mom, sister, nieces and nephews) and my two best friends since high school, Jared and Nita-- though I don't get to see them as often as I'd like. AND MY PETS!

14. addiction. Currently? Sour Patch Watermelons and Sweet Tea! Outside of food, I guess you could say I am addicted to buying Marvel Universe action figures when I have the money... and Funko Pop figures, though I only have like 6.

20. one wish. Oh so many... I could say I would like money, not like a fortune, just to be comfortable... Or I could say I looked different (lost weight, was taller, younger, etc.) But I think I will just go with a wish for me to simply be happy... it's a daily struggle, and some days I just wish that was what my natural state was and just be friggin' happy. (sorry for the maudlin answer.)

As for the sketch, thank you! I started sketching the eyes in Photoshop before I decided WTF let's play with Sai... so from then on it was Sai other than me tweaking the shade layer from Multiply to Linear Burn in PS (Sai has limited layer modes.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one to jump around between art packages to make my pics! I love using the water colour and blur brushes in Sai. But my free Mac version is awful for lines as it isn't pressure sensitive, so I do line-work in PS.

Wishing for happiness isn't maudlin! Mmm and sour patch watermelons sound rather tasty.

OH, don't use the pencil or pen tools for inking in Sai! I mean, you can, but there is a MUCH niftier tool.

Use the INK LAYERS rather than the normal new layer! It allows you to plot line points via the curve tool and then manipulate those points in practically any way you want. You can even ink with just a mouse!



One day I will do a full Sai tutorial...

You should really play around with it. It takes some getting used to, but once you get it down it creates the cleanest lines of ANY art program! Feel free to ask anything about it, THAT thing I know about when it comes to Sai. ;)

On Windows you click the escape key to stop a line, not sure if that is the same on a Mac.

Thanks! It's funny/stupid that for as long as I've had Sai and Manga Studio, I just haven't played around with them all that much to know how they work. For Sai, I've usually just stuck to inking my chibis because they have a really cool inking tool, but the coloring I haven't tried with in years. So I thought I'd dive in and experiment. Will have to do it some more, methinks!

15. favorite song. Oh god, this is always changing! Past ones have included Across the Universe by The Beatles, True Colors by Cyndi Lauper, Freedom 90 by George Michael, Ooh Child by Beth Orton, River Flows in You by Yiruma, Proud by Heather Small... and many, MANY, more. But currently it is actually one that you turned me on to: In Between the Lines by Tyrone Wells.

25. favorite subject. Besides Art, which I really didn't take as much as I should have. I really enjoyed Choir. BUT more academically, I was always pretty good with History.

44. worst habit. HMM. Okay, I admit sometimes I adjust myself in public. /o\ BUT idk, I have to say that I tend to get myself into some trouble by debating people a lot-- whether they want to or not, and I tend to choose the devil's advocate stance regardless of how I actually believe. It's a trait I got from my dad's side of the family.

40. favorite food. I am a sucker for good Chinese! Particularly Sweet and Sour, Orange, or Lemon Chicken. NOM NOM! also COFFEE! (just realized that favorite food is on there twice #10 and #40)

30. miss anyone. I do, like I mentioned for #29, I rarely get to see my best friends Jared and Nita. Jared lives on the other side of the state and works for the military, so I rarely get the chance to see him. And weirdly sad is that Nita is now my sister-in-law (to step bro), but with her hectic life and our conflicting job schedules, we just see each other in passing. :|

16 favorite animal. Well besides my dog, I really like Red Pandas. Black footed ferrets are a close second.

23 pets. Boy do I! I personally have a big (we are talking 33 lb) orange tabby named Gizmo and my little shizapomachu (that's shih tzu/pomeranian/chihuahua) named Parker. My parents-- I live at home-- also have a teeny Siamese, Sadie, and Parker's litter mate sister (that looks nothing like him) named Angel. We just had to put down two animals last month, a gray tabby and an older shih tzu. But we also foster a pug chihuahua mix named Eddie for a neighbor during the week... Plus, were we live in the country, so my cousin across the road has three goats, two horses, five turkeys, a butt load of chickens, four ducks, and two more cats... who all tend to make themselves at home in our yard or field from time to time. And we let the neighbor in back of us use our field for his horses and cows on occasion. So it's like living in a petting zoo. :P



26 first kiss. The first girl I kissed was my first 'girlfriend' Emily when I was like thirteen or fourteen? First person I full on made out with was my senior year girlfriend, Patricia. And the first boy I kissed/made out with was a guy named Jeremy who I gave a ride home from a New Year's party when I was nineteen.
