Unexpected Banner

Jared leaned up against the wall staring out across the terminal. He watched as couples or families reunited. A little boy bonked his head repeatedly against a column as his mother flirted helplessly with a man far out of her league. Yet another mother hurried to pull her little girl from the luggage conveyor.

His patience was starting to wear thin as he waited for the woman in the bathroom. Jared's plane had came in almost an hour ago and “she” had drug him through family and friends and now all he wanted to do was get home and sleep.

His eyes were drifting shut when his interest was peeked. A man come out of the gate with a backpack slung over his shoulder. He looked around aimlessly, searching around for someone he would recognize.

Jared straightened and continued to watch the attractive man shuffle through the other passengers. He crossed his arms and took in the man's features. He was slightly shorter than Jared was, dark blond hair, and the faintest hint of freckles danced across his nose.

Jared had never really noticed another guy before, not like this, but this man was beautiful! He watched as the man dropped into the seat and pulled out a cell and quickly flipped it sideways and began sending what was obviously a text message. The stranger snapped the device closed and dropped it back into his pocket.

The man glanced around, catching Jared staring at him, or so the taller boy thought. Jared quickly looked downwards, glancing through long bangs of brown. When the man closed his eyes and tilted his head back Jared lifted his head. The man breathed deeply in his chest and Jared watched as the small knob in his throat bobbed in a swallow. The line of his jaw and faint trace of stubble over his neck and chin were suddenly intoxicating.

Jared cleared his throat and looked around to ensure no one would notice him adjust his now uncomfortable crotch. 'What the hell?' Jared thought to himself. No matter what he tried to do, however, his eyes always returned to the man. His eyes started at the scuffed cowboy boots, up over the slightly worn and frayed jeans, up further to see a tighter tee shirt underneath an unbuttoned seersucker shirt. Jared's eyes then drifted up just as the man's chin fell forward, his green eyes staring directly back at him.

Jared snapped his eyes away. In the corner of his eye he caught the stranger adjust himself in the seat and refusing to look away. Jared slowly looked back, drawing a knowing grin across the man's face. The man licked his pouty lips just slightly, the saliva making them shine just slightly. Jared held back a guilty blush just as the woman he'd been waiting for finally emerged from the bathroom.

“Sorry babe. You ready?” she said as she leaned upwards to kiss him.

“Uh yeah?” he said, not returning the kiss and letting his eyes remain on the man in front of him. The dark haired woman took his arm in hers and began to pull the large man away.

Jared's eyes lingered on for another second as the man quickly gathered his belongings and stood.

The woman babbled on and on as they walked further and further through the airport. Jared just mumbled the occasional agreement.

“Hey!” Gen complained as they were separated by a man walking between their hands.
The man smiled at her as he apologized for not paying attention. Jared looked closely upon the same man from just a few minutes ago.

Gen giggled as the man worked his charm on her. He then turned and made a quick apology to Jared, smacking the taller man on the arm. The blond's smile was full of mischief as he lowered his hand over Jared's to pass a small piece of paper between them. Jared eyed him suspiciously as the man apologized to Gen once more and headed off. Jared quickly pocketed the paper. The two then made their way to the rental car booth.

As Gen filled out the paperwork Jared pulled out the torn paper.

“If you want a closer look next time give me a call
~Jensen “

was scrawled barely legibly along with two different phone numbers.

Jared looked up at his girlfriend and then back at the paper. He carefully folded it up and reached in back of him to get his wallet. He tucked the paper away in between two credit cards. He smiled to no one in particular as the girl turned to hand him the keys.
